A three-time First Team All-PAC honoree, Gustafson caught 61 passes for 1,246 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2019. He capped the 2019 season by earning ECAC James Lynah Bowl Most Valuable Player honors in Grove City's 41-38 win over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He caught 13 passes for 239 yards and three touchdowns in that postseason win.
Gustafson owns Grove City's career records in receptions (244), receiving yards (3,908) and touchdown catches (38).
Gustafson has earned a 3.93Â GPA while majoring in mathematics. He is a Dean's List honoree and a PAC Academic Honor Roll selection. Gustafson has also twice earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors in track and field. He is the second Grove City football player to earn multiple CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, joining Chris Gibbs (2012-13).
A four-year letterman as Grove City's punter and kickoff specialist, Brake earned All-PAC in each of his final three seasons. He earned Honorable Mention All-PAC in spring 2021 after averaging 36.4 yards per punt on nine kicks. He placed three of his nine punts inside the opponents' 20 and did not have a touchback.
He earned Honorable Mention All-PAC in 2019 and First Team recognition in 2018. He also earned All-ECAC South in 2018. Brake averaged 37.7 yards per punt during his career.Â
Brake earned a 3.65 cumulative grade-point average while majoring in accounting. He has been named to the Dean's List and the conference's Academic Honor Roll.Â
Brake is the 10th Grove City football player to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, joining Chuck Gaetano (1973), Pat McCoy (1974), Dick Miller (1975), Travis Croll (1989), Adam Eichler (2008), Dave Salera (2008), Gibbs (2012, 2013), Brandon Berringer (2015) and Gustafson.
Grove City has produced at least one CoSIDA Academic All-American in each of the last 19 years. Brake is the 49th all-time Grove City student-athlete to achieve CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
This is the first time since 2011 that Grove City has produced multiple Academic All-Americans in the same sport. That year, men's soccer players Tim Boswell and Brian Eckenhoff earned CoSIDA Academic All-America recognition. Eichler and Salera are the other Grove City football teammates to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America in the same season.
The 2020-21 academic year marks the 10th year that CoSIDA has based its Academic All-America program on individual divisions within college athletics. Currently, CoSIDA honors student-athletes in NCAA Divisions I, II and III, along with a "College" division that includes NAIA institutions and junior colleges.
A student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.3 or higher cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or significant reserve to be nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-America program.
