NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's golf team continued its preparations for next week's Presidents' Athletic Conference Fall Championships by competing in the Westminster Fall Invitational, held Monday afternoon at New Castle Country Club.
Grove City's "A" team tied for third in the 13-team field with a team score of 329. The "A" squad tied with Grove City's "B" quintet, which also posted a 329.Â
Junior
Anthony Tambellini (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) and freshman
Adam Steinmetz (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) each paced the "A" squad with 80s. Both players tied for 15th place. Sophomore
Peter Van Eerden (Stokesville, N.C.) earned 28th with an 84 while senior
Tanner McCreadie (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) placed 34th with an 85.Â
Senior
Kirk Bain (Nokesville, Va./Brentsville) rounded out the lineup with an 87, good for 39th.
Sophomore
Caleb Husovich (Simi Valley, Calif.) paced the "B" squad by shooting Grove City's low round of the day. He carded a 78, placing him eighth in the field. Senior
Peyton Brogan (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) took 11th with a 78 while freshman
Max Vaughn (Lakewood, N.Y./Southwestern) tied Van Eerden for 28th with an 84.
Freshman
Aidan Allen (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central) took 43rd with an 88 and junior
Ben Lockwood (Bemus Point, N.Y./Maple Grove) finished 64th with a 99.
Two Grove City men played as individuals. Freshman
Luke Kimmich (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) carded an 84 to tie for 28th. Junior
Austin Basham (Mansfield, Ohio/Lexington) shot 89, placing him 45th.
Westminster's Michael Bell earned medalist with a 71. Seventy-seven men competed in the tournament.Â
Grove City returns to action October 13-14 at the conference championships, which will be held at Squaw Creek in Vienna, Ohio/
