CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. -- The Grove City College baseball team dropped both ends of a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Thomas More. Thomas More (22-7, 16-2 PAC) pulled out a 5-3 win in the opener and then rallied for a 9-6 victory in the second game.

In the opener, Grove City (22-9, 14-4) grabbed a quick 1-0 lead when junior shortstop David Laylock (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pine-Richland) doubled and later scored on a single by junior first baseman Matt Waugaman (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny).

Thomas More led 3-1 entering the fourth inning but Grove City quickly tied the game. Senior DH Travis Royer (Forest, Va./Twin Valley, Pa.) led off with a home run to halve the lead. Sophomore second baseman Drew Landis (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) laced a one-out double and then scored the tying run on single by sophomore center fielder Tyler Graham (Vandergrift, Pa./Kiski Area).

Thomas More closed the scoring in the fifth on Donovan Pogue's two-run double.

Waugaman and junior catcher Andy Fritz (Saxonburg, Pa./Knoch) both singled twice for the Wolverines. Senior pitcher Ryan Gallagher (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) fired a complete game for Grove City, allowing five runs in six innings. He yielded seven hits and did not walk a batter.

In Game Two, Thomas More scored six times in the bottom of the fifth to erase Grove City's 6-3 lead. Fritz doubled twice and scored two runs for Grove City while freshman third baseman Micah Burke (Gilbert, Ariz./E.V.A.C.) went 3 for 4. Laylock singled twice and Royer doubled.

Grove City trailed 3-1 in the third but tied the game with a pair of two-out runs. Junior right fielder Nolan Myers (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) singled and later scored on Fritz's double. Fritz came home on a Burke single. In the fourth, Laylock singled in junior second baseman Brandon Gresh (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) to give the Wolverines a 4-3 lead.

Grove City pushed the lead to 6-3 in the fifth. Burke singled in Fritz and then scored on Royer's double.

Junior pitcher Cameron Lawson (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) started and allowed six earned runs in 4 2/3 innings. He struck out three. Junior C.J. Hils (West Homestead, Pa./Central Catholic) pitched 1 1/3 innings in relief.
