LATROBE, Pa. -- The Grove City College baseball team improved to 4-5 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference by sweeping both ends of a league doubleheader Thursday afternoon at Saint Vincent. Grove City earned a 9-6 win in the opener and then rolled to a 10-1 victory in Game Two.

In Game One, three Grove City players posted three-hit outings. Sophomore DH Andy Fritz (Saxonburg, Pa./Knoch) went 3 for 3 with a double and three runs scored while sophomore catcher Nick Fryer (Medina, Ohio/Medina) and sophomore third baseman Brandon Gresh (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) both went 3 for 4.

Senior first baseman Reese Swatsworth (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) belted a three-run double in the sixth inning to help break open the game. Sophomore right fielder Nolan Myers (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) also doubled while senior second baseman Josh Hodges (Johnson City, N.Y./Johnson City) added two hits. Grove City finished the game with 16 hits.

Myers doubled in Fritz in the fourth inning to break a 2-2 tie. Myers later scored on a Gresh single. Gresh scored the third run of the inning on a balk.

Senior pitcher Mason Stephens (Uniontown, Ohio/Lake) earned the win by allowing one earned run in five innings. Stephens (3-2) allowed just four hits and struck out three. Junior Ryan Gallagher (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) and sophomore Jimmy Palmer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) both pitched an inning of relief.

Five Wolverines had multiple-hit games in the nightcap as Grove City finished with 14 hits. Gresh went 3 for 4 with a double and three runs batted in. Junior DH Travis Royer (Elverson, Pa./Twin Valley) homered and singled while sophomore left fielder Luke Vorce (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) doubled and singled.

Myers also went 2 for 4. Myers, Royer and Vorce all scored twice. Freshman shortstop Drew Landis (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) doubled.

Royer's fourth-inning homer broke a scoreless tie. The Wolverines quickly added two more runs as Myers scored on Vorce's double and Vorce then came home on a Gresh single.

Three Grove City pitchers combined to hold Saint Vincent (8-10, 3-5 PAC) to just four hits. Sophomore starter Cameron Lawson (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) allowed one hit and no earned runs in five innings. He fanned three. Senior Chris Curran (Lyndhurst, Ohio/Brush) pitched a scoreless sixth inning of relief. Landis pitched the seventh.
