GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Grove City College baseball team dropped both ends of a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader Monday afternoon at Thiel. Grove City, the designated home team for both games, dropped the opener, 21-1. In Game Two, Thiel rallied for a 5-4 win.

Grove City (6-11, 2-5) trailed 1-0 early in the nightcap but posted a pair of runs in the third innings. Freshman second baseman Cameron Smail (Vandergrift, Pa./Kiski Area) led off with a single and later scored on a groundout from freshman shortstop Drew Landis (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) to tie the game. Later in the inning, senior first baseman Reese Swatsworth (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) singled in freshman center fielder Tyler Graham (Vandergrift, Pa./Kiski Area).

In the fifth, sophomore Luke Vorce (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) doubled and later scored on a Swatsworth single. Swatsworth then scored when sophomore catcher Andy Fritz (Saxonburg, Pa./Knoch) laced a double. Fritz finished 3 for 4 while Swatsworth and Landis both had two hits.

Sophomore pitcher Anthony Marnejon (Columbiana, Ohio/Crestview) started and allowed three runs in 5 2/3 innings. Sophomore reliever Cameron Lawson (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) took the defeat after allowing two runs in 1 1/3 innings. Lawson is now 2-1.

Thiel broke open Game One by scoring eight runs in the top of the third inning. Sophomore catcher Nick Fryer (Medina, Ohio/Medina) singled in sophomore third baseman Brandon Gresh (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) in the fifth to account for Grove City's scoring. The Wolverines had just three hits in the opener.

Sophomore pitcher Ben Finlan (State College, Pa./State College) started and took the setback for the Wolverines. He pitched four innings. Sophomore C.J. Hils (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) and junior Rob McLain (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster County Christian) both pitched in relief.
