Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. -- The Grove City College baseball team dropped a pair of two-run decisions at Thomas More Saturday in a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader. Thomas More pulled out a 4-2 win in the opener and then downed Grove City 6-4 in the second game.

In Game Two, Grove City scored twice in the top of the seventh to cut the Saints' lead to 6-4. Sophomore pinch runner John Rende (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) scored on a wild pitch and sophomore center fielder Randen Schleiden (Lee's Summit, Mo./Lee's Summit North) came home on an error.

The Wolverines brought the go-ahead run to the plate in the inning but Thomas More reliever David Etscheid retired junior first baseman Kyle Shock (Loudonville, Ohio/Hillsdale) to end the game.

Grove City fell behind 2-0 early in the nightcap but quickly forged a tie when junior right fielder Cameron Jones (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro) laced a two-run single that scored Shock and sophomore DH Ryan Parker (Houston, Pa./Chartiers-Houston).

Thomas More retook the lead, 3-2, in the third and then added three more runs in the fourth.

Junior left fielder Zach Struharik (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman) doubled and singled for the Wolverines while Parker and Schleiden both singled twice.

Junior pitcher Zach Butler (Massillon, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) started and pitched one inning before yielding to freshman Tom Chaney (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg). Chaney pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed three earned runs. He took the setback.

Senior Andrew Krull (Imperial, Pa./West Allegheny) pitched 1 2/3 innings of relief. Freshman Blaine Lang (Canfield, Ohio/Ursuline) pitched a scoreless sixth inning of relief.

Grove City trailed 4-0 in the opener but slashed the lead to 4-2 in the sixth. Struharik singled in Schleiden and Shock's sacrifice fly scored freshman third baseman Mason McFeaters (Harrisville, Pa./Franklin).

Schleiden went 2 for 3 and senior second baseman Brandon Durbin (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) doubled.

Junior pitcher Max Vickerman (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) fired a complete game for the Wolverines. He allowed three earned runs and six hits in six innings.

Grove City will host Westminster Wednesday at 3 p.m. in a single conference game at R. Jack Behringer Field.
