BETHANY, W.Va. -- The Grove City College baseball team dropped to 2-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Friday afternoon as host Bethany rallied for a 9-6 win over the Wolverines at Bethany Park.

Grove City (7-8 overall) took a 6-4 lead into the bottom of the eighth inning but Bethany (7-6, 2-4 PAC) rallied with five runs to take the lead.

Grove City took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when senior shortstop Scott Moran (Columbia, Md./Chapelgate Christian) walked and eventually came home on a single by senior catcher Marcus Magister (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton). The Wolverines scored an unearned run in the third inning to push the lead to 2-0.

Two Bethany errors helped lead to three unearned runs in the fifth for Grove City. Sophomore right fielder Cameron Jones (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro) highlighted the inning with a sacrifice fly that scored senior DH Kyle Wolff (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville).

Bethany eventually whittled the lead to 5-4 but Grove City picked up its sixth run in the top of the seventh when sophomore center fielder Josh Sacks (Columbia, Md./Chapelgate Christian) singled in senior second baseman Andrew Patterson (Akron, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian).

Magister, Sacks, Wolff and senior left fielder Butch Kriger (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) all singled twice for the Wolverines, who had nine hits. Freshman Ryan Parker (Houston, Pa./Chartiers-Houston) added a pinch-hit double for Grove City.
