Grove City owns top spot after 1st full day

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team owns first place after the first three sessions of competition at the 2025 Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships, held in the Wolverines' James E. Longnecker Pool.

Grove City leads the team race with 335 team points while Saint Vincent is second with 261 points. 

Grove City captured a pair of relay victories during the first two finals sessions Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday night, the 800 free relay team of freshman Ellie Webster (Westfield, Ind./Westfield), senior Sarah Kuchma (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills), freshman Freja Kile (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and senior Emma Plank (Slippery Rock, Pa./Portersville Christian) recorded a winning time of 7 minutes, 55.90 seconds. 

Thursday night, Kuchma anchored Grove City's winning 400 medley relay, which posted a time of 3:59.59. Sophomore Ashley Rauhauser (York, Pa./Homeschooled), freshman Hadleigh McNay (Tucker, Ga./Tucker) and senior Mikaela Jenkins (Evansville, Ind./F.J. Reitz) contributed the first three legs of the relay. 

Rauhauser also won the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:13.41. She led a 1-2-3-4 sweep in that event McNay earned second in the 200 IM (2:16.03) while freshman Aubrey Schroeder (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) finished third with a time of 2:17.69. Senior Olivia Getek (Grasonville, Md./Kent Island) completed the sweep with a fourth-place time of 2:17.98. 

Plank captured second in the 50 free with a time of 24.38 while senior Alex Frank (Asheville, N.C./Asheville Christian) took runner-up in the 500 free with a time of 5:21.62. Kile placed fourth in the 500 (5:26.18). Junior Sadie Shofestall (Brookville, Pa./Brookville) earned fifth in the 50 free with a time of 25.05 seconds, one spot ahead of Webster (25.16). 

Senior Allison Dieter (Huron, Ohio/Huron) finished sixth in the 200 IM in 2:18.74.

Jenkins, Shofestall, sophomore Jamie Durstein (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton La Salle) and junior Sarah Janicki (Denver, Colo./Austin Waldorf) posted the top time in the 200 medley relay Wednesday night with a 1:51.74 clocking in the consolation heat.

Action resumes at 10 a.m. Friday with preliminary heats. The finals will begin at 5:30 p.m.
