WEBSTER, N.Y. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team secured two victories Saturday afternoon at the season-opening Geneseo State Quad, held at Webster Aquatic Center. The Wolverines picked up a 187-103 win over Penn State Behrend as well as a 186-113 triumph over Brockport State. Host Geneseo State secured a 208-91 decision over the Wolverines.
Sophomore
Hadleigh McNay (Tucker, Ga./Tucker) and freshman
Mollie Massella (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock) both earned wins at Saturday's event. McNay won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1 minute, 9.86 seconds. Massella prevailed in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:11.55. That time ranks ninth all-time at the College.Â
Massella also finished second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:01.29. Freshman
Abby Tweed (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) earned second in the 200 free (2:01.04). Freshman diver
Chaeli Keenan (New Alexandria, Pa./Derry) took second in both diving events. She recorded a total of 230.60 points in 1-meter action, then posted a 238.65 cumulative score on the 3-meter board.Â
McNay, Massella, junior
Ashley Rauhauser (York, Pa./Homeschooled) and freshman
Mary Anne Altman (Sarver, Pa./Freeport) opened the meet by finishing third in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:52.59. McNay also took third in the 200 breaststroke (2:32.38).Â
Freshman
Katie Quinn (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) took third in the 200 backstroke (2:15.73). Freshman
Abigail Vance (Butler, Pa./Butler) secured third-place finishes in both the 100 breaststroke (1:10.91) and the 200 individual medley (2:18.03).
Grove City will visit Ashland next Saturday at 1 p.m. for a non-conference dual meet.
