GROVE CITY, Pa. – Two Grove City College baseball players earned Presidents' Athletic Conference yearly honors Wednesday night as voted upon by the conference's head coaches.
Senior pitcher
Nick Guidas (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) earned the conference's Pitcher of the Year award while Newcomer of the Year distinction went to freshman pitcher/infielder
Sam Bevin (Louisville, Ky./Wake County).
Overall, seven Grove City players earned All-PAC honors. Bevin, Guidas and junior outfielder
Josh Minnich (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) earned First Team recognition.
Junior pitcher
Evan Umland (Pasadena, Calif./La Canada), junior shortstop
Luke Vittone (Seven Fields, Pa./Eden Christian) and senior first baseman
Markus Williams (Sewickley, Pa./Eden Christian) all merited Second Team All-PAC. Freshman outfielder
Caison Holland (Freedom, Pa./Ambridge) earned Honorable Mention All-PAC.
Guidas led the conference with a 2.10 earned run average this season. He struck out a league-high 96 batters while also leading the conference with 81 1/3 innings pitched. Opponents hit .212 against Guidas, who posted a 6-4 record in 13 starts.
During conference play, Guidas went 4-0 with a 1.49 ERA. He struck out 42 men in 36 opponents during the 20-game conference schedule. The left-hander finished his career with 258 strikeouts, which is the second-highest total in program history. His 96 strikeouts this season rank second on Grove City's single-season list.
Guidas went 19-9 during his Grove City career, ranking fifth in program history in wins.
Bevin made an immediate impact as a rookie in 2024, both on the mound and in the infield. He led Grove City with seven wins this year and finished with a 7-3 record. Bevin struck out 59 men in 74 1/3 innings while limiting opponents to a .227 average.
He started at both second base and third base when not pitching, finishing 2024 with a team-leading 48 runs scored. Bevin hit .361 with three home runs, 25 runs batted in and 19 total extra-base hits.
Bevin also posted a .460 on-base percentage, 11 stolen bases and 18 multi-hit games. He scored 25 runs in 20 conference games after moving into the leadoff spot of the Wolverine batting order.
Minnich led Grove City with a .386 batting average, 46 runs batted in, 18 doubles and 86 total bases this year. He also led the squad with a .562 slugging percentage.
Minnich started all 41 games, primarily in right field. He reached base safely in each of the final 30 games, including a 22-game hitting streak during that span.
Minnich led the conference with 18 doubles and ranked second in the league with 46 runs knocked in. He earned Honorable Mention All-PAC in 2023. Minnich has a .366 career batting average as a two-year starter for Grove City.
Umland ranked second to Guidas in the conference with 70 strikeouts. The right-hander went 5-4 with two saves and a 2.52 ERA this year. Umland made 17 total appearances, including seven saves. He walked only 10 men in 64 1/3 innings.
Umland ranks third all-time at Grove City with 211 career strikeouts. His 53 career appearances are No. 3 in program history while his 17 career wins are tied for sixth on Grove City's leaderboard.
Vittone earned his third All-PAC honor after hitting .329 with a team-leading 13 stolen bases. Vittone scored 38 runs, second-most on the squad, while adding a pair of home runs and 27 runs batted in.
Vittone hit .354 in conference play this season. He earned First Team All-PAC at second base in 2022, then earned Second Team designation at shortstop last season.
Williams earned his second straight conference honor after recording a .351 batting average and 43 runs batted in. He shared the team lead with three home runs while adding 16 doubles.
Williams led Grove City with 20 multi-hit games, highlighted by a 4-for-5 effort in a 6-0 win over Allegheny in the conference tournament last Thursday.
He also helped anchor the Grove City infield at first base, posting a .991 fielding percentage. Williams earned Honorable Mention All-PAC in 2023 after hitting .364. His 39 career doubles rank second in program history.
Holland hit .388 against conference opposition while playing in 17 of 20 league games as Grove City's primary left field. Overall, the lefty-hitting Holland hit .385 with a team-leading 26 walks for the season. He led Grove City with a .484 on-base percentage.
Holland also drove in 25 runs while striking out only 12 times in 161 plate appearances.
Additionally, junior catcher
Sam DiStefano (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) landed on the conference's Sportsmanship Team. DiStefano took over as Grove City's primary starting catcher during the second half of the season and closed 2024 by going 6 for 18 (.333) with two doubles and three runs scored during the conference tournament.
Grove City finished 27-14 overall and 15-5 in the conference. The Wolverines advanced to the conference tournament championship game. Grove City is 113-49 (.698) over the last four seasons.
