WHEATON, Ill. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team closed the first half of the 2024-25 season Friday and Saturday by competing in the Wheaton (Ill.) College Invitational. Grove City finished second in the team standings at the eight-team event with 718 team points. Wisconsin-Stevens Point won the meet with 752 points.
Grove City swimmers won three events at the meet, including a sweep of the breaststroke by freshman
Hadleigh McNay (Tucker, Ga./Tucker). McNay won the 100 breaststroke in 1 minute, 7.28 seconds, then took the 200 breaststroke in 2:27.59.
Grove City also won the 800 free relay as senior
Sarah Kuchma (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills), senior
Alex Frank (Asheville, N.C./Asheville Christian), senior
Emma Plank (Slippery Rock, Pa./Portersville Christian) and freshman
Freja Kile (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) combined for a winning time of 8:08.41.
The Wolverines placed runner-up in both medley relay races. McNay, Plank, Kuchma and sophomore
Ashley Rauhauser (York, Pa./Homeschooled) took second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:49.58. Rauhauser, McNay, Plank and senior
Mikaela Jenkins (Evansville, Ind./F.J. Reitz) earned second in the 400 medley relay (4:03.17).
Rauhauser also finished second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.51 seconds. She added a third-place finish in the 200 individual medley (2:16.06). Rauhauser, Kile, Kuchma and freshman
Ellie Webster (Westfield, Ind./Westfield) closed the meet by finishing third in the 400 free relay, combining for a time of 3:41.29.
Junior
Sarah Janicki (Denver, Colo./Austin Waldorf) earned third place in the 200 breaststroke (2:31.88) and finished fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.65). Jenkins took fourth in both butterfly races, posting a time of 1:01.60 in the 100 fly and a time of 2:15.24 in the 200 butterfly.
Plank captured fourth in the 400 individual medley (4:51.38). Plank, Rauhauser, Kuchma and Webster opened the meet by finishing fourth in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:40.19.
Grove City will host Penn State Behrend at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 18 in a non-conference dual meet.
