GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Grove City College senior pitcher
Tate Ostrowski (Essex, Mass./Covenant Christian) earned D3baseball.com Second Team All-America honors Wednesday morning in recognition of his performance during the 2022 season.
Ostrowski compiled an 8-1 record with a 1.63 earned run average this season. He struck out 93 batters in 88 1/3 innings while holding opponents to a .181 batting average. Ostrowski led the Presidents' Athletic Conference in ERA, strikeouts, innings pitched and opponent batting average. He also recorded one save in his 16 total appearances, which included 13 starts.
He set a single-season program record with 93 strikeouts. His 1.63 ERA is the lowest for a Grove City pitcher since the introduction of metal bats in 1974. Ostrowski is NCAA Division III's active career leader in earned run average, 1.67. He owns a 17-3 career record and ranks second all-time at the College with 183 strikeouts.
Tuesday, he earned First Team All-Region 7 honors from D3baseball.com and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). Ostrowski earned Presidents' Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year and First Team All-PAC from the conference's head coaches in May.
Ostrowski helped Grove City to a 28-14 overall record in 2022. The 28 wins matched the single-season program record. The ABCA Division III All-America team will be released later this week.
He is the third All-American in Grove City baseball history, joining Brian Moran and Marcus Magister. Moran earned ABCA and D3baseball.com All-America in 2008. Magister earned D3baseball.com All-America recognition in 2009.
