Grove City edged in semifinals

Box Score WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's tennis team dropped a 5-4 decison Friday evening to second-seeded Franciscan in the semifinals of the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship Tournament, held at Washington & Jefferson College. Franciscan will play No. 4 W&J in Saturday's finals while No. 3 seed Grove City concludes the season with a 7-3 record.

Junior Lillian Jeynes (Traverse City, Mich./Traverse City) and sophomore Faith Keating (Troy, Mich./Troy) combined for an 8-5 win at second doubles.

The Wolverines then won three of the six singles matches. Freshman Alexis Chappel (Prospect, Pa./Butler) pulled out a 3-6, 7-5, 7-5 win at third singles. Sophomore Logan Fuss (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) also earned a three-set victory, taking her fifth singles match 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. Jeynes won 6-3, 6-2 at sixth singles.

Grove City will lose seniors Morgan Happe (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) and Madi Reed (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown) to graduation.
