Gustafson Player of Year as 16 earn All-PAC

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Grove City College senior wide receiver Cody Gustafson (Newburg, Pa./Shippensburg) earned Presidents' Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year honors Tuesday afternoon and 15 teammates joined Gustafson on the All-PAC Teams as voted upon by the league's 10 head football coaches.

Senior defensive end R.J. Debo (New Brighton, Pa./New Brighton), junior guard Vinny LePre (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove) and senior safety Patrick Mark (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Wellington) joined Gustafson on the conference's First Team.

Sophomore kick returner Gabe Dunlap (Harrison City, Pa./Penn Trafford), senior linebacker Parker Kilgore (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) and junior running back Clayton Parrish (Mercer, Pa./West Middlesex) captured Second Team All-PAC recognition.

All-PAC Honorable Mention went to senior cornerback Branden Caffrey (Ashburn, Va./John Champe), senior quarterback Josh Ehst (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone), freshman running back Nico Flati (Aliquippa, Pa./West Allegheny), junior linebacker Ryan Fleming (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette), sophomore wide receiver Scott Fraser (Butler, Pa./Knoch), freshman offensive tackle Dylan Lane (Pendergrass, Ga./Mill Creek), senior kicker Nick Morrow (Moon Township, Pa./Moon), junior nose tackle James Parenti (Hilliards, Pa./Moniteau) and sophomore fullback Robert Tamburrino (Rock Creek, Ohio/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin).

Gustafson earned Offensive Player of the Year honors for the second season after leading the conference with 84 receptions for 1,188 yards. He also ranks second in the conference with 10 touchdown receptions. 

A two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American, Gustafson currently leads all active NCAA receivers with 5,073 receiving yards. His 110.3 yards per game career average also leads all active players. He holds Grove City's career records for receiving yards, touchdown catches (48) and total receptions (328). He is a four-time First Team All-PAC honoree.

Debo anchored Grove City's defensive line by posting four sacks, eight tackles for loss, an interception and four pass deflections. Debo recorded 36 total stops while helping the Wolverines rank No. 9 nationally in rushing defense, allowing 65.1 yards per game. Debo earned Second Team All-PAC in spring 2021.

LePre earned First Team honors for the second consecutive season after starting all 10 games at right guard. LePre's efforts helped Grove City allow a league-low eight sacks this season. The Wolverines also averaged a conference-best 6.1 yards per play while also leading the league in scoring offense (36.8) and total offensive yards per game (436.1).

A four-year starter in the secondary, Mark ranked second on the team with 58 tackles this season. He shared the team lead with two interceptions and six pass breakups. Mark added two sacks and 6.5 tackles for loss. 

Mark earned Second Team All-PAC in 2019, then became a First Team honoree last spring. 

Dunlap led the conference in punt return average (8.8) and also averaged 21.9 yards per kickoff return. He also started all 10 games at cornerback, recording two interceptions, six deflections and 36 tackles.

Kilgore led Grove City with 91 tackles this season. That figure also ranked second in the conference. Kilgore shared the team lead with two interceptions and added 1.5 sacks. He earned his third All-PAC honor after receiving Honorable Mention in 2019 and All-PAC First Team last spring.

Parrish leads NCAA Division III with 23 rushing touchdowns this season. He led Grove City with 721 rushing yards during the regular season, the No. 3 total in the conference. Parrish capped the regular season last Saturday with 160 rushing yards and five touchdowns in a 56-0 Mercer County Cup win at Thiel. Parrish leads the league with 138 total points.

Caffrey started all 10 games at cornerback this season and posted 46 tackles. He also recorded an interception and four pass breakups.

Ehst ranked second in the conference with 2,436 total offensive yards this season. He threw for 2,361 yards and 15 touchdowns during the regular season. He also ran for four scores. Ehst owns Grove City's career record with 60 career touchdown passes. He ranks second with 7,330 career passing yards and needs 180 yards to pass current head coach Andrew DiDonato as the program's record-holder.

Flati emerged as one of the conference's top rookies in 2021 as he ran for 677 yards in eight games. He averaged 5.1 yards per carry and 84.6 yards per game. Flati ranked second in the league in rushing yards per game.

Fleming ranked second in the conference with seven quarterback sacks. That is the highest total for Grove City player since Jason Skyrm totaled nine sacks in 2014. Fleming also ranked fourth in the conference with a team-leading 12 tackles for loss. He finished with 47 total tackles and three forced fumbles. Fleming earned Second Team All-PAC in spring 2021.

Fraser emerged at wide receiver on the opposite side of Gustafson this fall as he hauled in 54 passes for 664 yards. Fraser ranked fourth in the conference in catches and seventh in receiving yards. 

Lane started all 10 games at right tackle this year and teamed with LePre to give Grove City one of the conference's top guard-tackle duos. His efforts helped Grove City lead the league in scoring offense, total offense and fewest sacks allowed.

Morrow led conference kickers with 60 points and 45 extra points. Saturday at Thiel, he tied the single-game program record with eight extra points. A four-time All-PAC honoree, Morrow holds Grove City's career record with 135 extra points. He has a program-record 198 career kick points. 

Tamburrino helped lead the way for Flati and Parrish from his fullback position. His pass blocking helped the offensive line limit opponents to eight quarterback sacks. Tamburrino started all 10 games this season after making four starts last spring.

Grove City went 7-3 overall during the regular season, including a 6-3 mark in conference play. The Wolverines will host Utica at 12 p.m. Saturday in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Scotty Whitelaw Bowl.
