Sarah Hart (Marriottsville, Md./Liberty) pounded out 19 kills while sophomore
Taylor Ripple (New Bethlehem, Pa./Redbank Valley) added a career-high 13 kills Wednesday night to help lift the Grove City College women's volleyball team to a 25-23, 25-18, 19-25, 27-25 home victory over John Carroll (10-3) in non-conference action at the Grove City College Arena.
Junior
Lilly Pool (Huntington, Ind./Ashland, Ohio) recorded a career-best 11 total blocks for Grove City (12-3), which won its fourth consecutive match.
Grove City trailed 19-9 in the first set before charging back for the win. Senior
Kendra Klusch (Alliance, Ohio/Homeschooled) served an ace to cap a 5-0 run. John Carroll later owned a 22-18 lead when Ripple recorded three consecutive kills, cutting the set lead to 22-21. Two John Carroll attack errors and a Pool kill gave Grove City a 24-22 lead.
Another Ripple kill, her sixth of the opening set, clinched the 25-23 win.
Senior
Alayna Dorst (Middletown, Del./Middletown) chipped in nine kills for Grove City. Senior setter
Sarah Harris (Lebanon, Ohio/Mars Hill) furnished 21 assists while junior
Brooke Manfull (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth) totaled 19 assists.
Pool had four solo blocks and seven block assists to pace the defense. Ripple also had four blocks and Hart posted three blocks.
Junior
Lilly Wojtala (Copley, Ohio/Revere) posted 20 digs while Dorst delivered 19 digs. Freshman
Reagan Riordan (Sewickley, Pa./North Allegheny) contributed 14 digs and Manfull had 11 digs.
Pool's 11 blocks are the tied for No. 9 on Grove City's single-match leaderboard. It's the third-highest total for a Grove City player in a four-set match.
Grove City opens its Presidents' Athletic Conference schedule Saturday at 5 p.m. when the Wolverines visit Saint Francis.
