Grove City College Athletics

LATROBE, Pa. -- Senior defender Theo Campbell (Robinson Township, Pa./Robinson Township Christian) scored his first collegiate goal while senior midfielder Noah Gray (Glen Mills, Pa./The Christian Academy) scored twice Saturday afternoon to help lift the Grove City College men's soccer team to a 4-0 win at Saint Vincent in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at UPMC Field.

Freshman midfielder Sean Mankowski (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) added his first college goal for the Wolverines, who improved to 2-0 in the conference and 4-0-3 overall. 

Campbell broke a scoreless tie by scoring an unassisted goal at 25:56. Gray doubled the lead with an unassisted tally at 36:24.

The lead grew to 3-0 3:33 into the second half when Gray scored his second goal of the day. Senior forward Ryan Merrick (Cranberry Township, Pa./Eden Christian) assisted Gray's goal. 

Mankowski closed the scoring at 84:36 with his first goal of his rookie season. Sophomore Flavio Escareno (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton Warrenville South) assisted Mankowski's goal. 

Grove City accumulated a 15-2 edge in total shots. The Wolverines put 11 of those 15 shots on goal. Saint Vincent did not have a shot on goal. Grove City also attained a 15-2 edge in corner kicks.

Sophomore goalie Caedmon Whipple (Canton, Mich./Plymouth Christian) earned the shutout win by playing all 90 minutes. Whipple is now 3-0-1.

Gray leads Grove City with five goals, five assists and 15 points. He has moved into a tie for seventh place in program history with 29 goals while his 73 career points rank eighth at Grove City.

The Wolverines will visit Thiel at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in conference play.
