GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team opened the 2026 season Tuesday night by battling longtime rival Carnegie Mellon to a scoreless draw in non-conference action at Don Lyle Field.

Caedmon Whipple (Canton, Mich./Plymouth Christian) recorded a shutout in his Grove City debut. Whipple stopped four shots Tuesday night.Â
Carnegie Mellon (0-0-1) outshot Grove City (0-0-1) by a 17-5 margin. The Tartans also owned a 4-1 edge in shots on goal and a 9-1 edge in corner kicks.Â
This is the third straight season in which Grove City and Carnegie Mellon have drawn. The teams played to a 1-1 tie in both 2024 and 2025.
Grove City continues its season-opening four-match homestand Friday at 6:30 p.m. against Baldwin Wallace.
