Grove City Men's Golf -- 2026-27 Season Preview

GROVE CITY, Pa. – A mix of veterans and fresh faces will look to propel the 2026-27 Grove City College men's golf team to the Presidents' Athletic Conference crown.

Head coach Brad Isles and the Wolverines welcome back last year's PAC Most Valuable Player, Luke Gronbeck (Gibsonia, Pa./Eden Christian). The junior won medalist at the Fall Championships with a two-day score of 139, which set a school record, and then posted a two-day score of 153 at the Spring Championships to take the title.

Gronbeck also placed first at the Franciscan Fall Invitational and tied for first at last spring's Grove City 'MBA' Invitational. The Wolverines will rely on him for consistent play at the top of the lineup this season.

Alongside Gronbeck, senior Nathan Young (Street, Md./Homeschooled) emerged in last year's spring season. Young took the title at the Grove City 'MBA' Invitational by shooting 75. He finished the season by placing 16th at the PAC Spring Championships. Young will look to continue his climb in the lineup season.

Senior Tyler Derstein (Telford, Pa./Dock Mennonite) has been a consistent member of the lineup throughout his first three seasons at the College. Derstein placed 14th at the PAC Fall Championships and wrapped up last year by finishing 24th at the Spring Championships.

Fellow seniors Daniel Artale (Lititz, Pa./Homeschooled) and Ross Morrow (McKean, Pa./General McLane) will push for lineup spots this fall. Both saw action last year. Meanwhile, first-year senior Jake Kimmich (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) joins the program this season.

Junior Seth Hartman (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) became a staple in Grove City's "A" lineup last season. Hartman finished 10th at the La Roche Invitational. He also saw action in the PAC Fall and Spring Championships, placing 28th and 30th, respectively.

An experienced group of juniors will make the push for a lineup spot this fall. Maxwell Caimano (Washington, Pa./Peters Township), Will Nelson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Trinity Christian), Wade Springer (Topeka, Ind./Westview) and Will Whitehead (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) all saw action for the Wolverines in 2025-26.

Sophomores Owen Clouse (Templeton, Pa./Redbank Valley) and Topher Drombetta (Canfield, Ohio/Canfield) will also push for playing time in the fall.

The Wolverines welcome five freshmen to the program this year. Jack Balkey (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills), Parker Charlton (Capon Bridge, W.Va./Hampshire), Owen Konieczny (New Kensington, Pa./Kiski Area), Mason Smiley (Albion, Ill./Edwards County) and Brett Springer (Topeka, Ind./Westview) will make their debuts this fall.

Grove City tees off its season on Monday, August 31 at the Westminster Invitational. Teams will take the course starting at 11:00 a.m.
