CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Eleven Grove City College women's lacrosse players scored goals Monday afternoon as the Wolverines began their Spring Break trip with a 21-0 victory over Marian (Wis.) in non-conference action at Countryside Complex.
Junior attack
Taylor Blythe (Mendon, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) and junior midfielder
Tori Stevenson (Butler, Pa./Butler) both recorded seven-point outings as each player had three goals and four assists in the victory. Freshman midfielder
Avery Anderson (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) also scored three times.
Senior attack
Jackie Rowell (Laurel, Md./Reservoir), junior midfielder
Jess Robinette (Mohnton, Pa./Twin Valley), sophomore midfielder
Mia Mygatt (Silver Spring, Md./Brookewood) and freshman midfielder
Maddie LaForte (Waterford, Conn./Waterford) all scored twice for Grove City (1-3).
The Wolverines also received goals from senior attack
Grace Forry (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield), junior attack
Gwen Shilling (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional), sophomore midfielder
Ella Krabitz (Catonsville, Md./Chapelgate Christian) and freshman midfielder
Addy Porter (Jenks, Okla./Jenks).
Forry, Krabitz, Robinette and Rowell all tallied assists. Senior defender
Reese Hasley (Cheswick, Pa./Deer Lakes) and freshman midfielder
Elliette Smith (Butler, Pa./Butler) also notched assists.
Blythe scored a pair of unassisted goals in the first 95 seconds to give Grove City an early 2-0 lead. The Wolverines led 4-0 after one quarter and extended the lead to 10-0 by halftime. LaForte scored twice in the third quarter while Stevenson had a goal and two assists during the period as the lead swelled to 16-0.
Freshman defender
Gabri Hallam (Buffalo, N.Y./Clarence) led the defensive effort by causing six turnovers. Anderson, Mygatt and Robinette all caused two turnovers. Overall, Grove City pressured Marian into 34 turnovers. Grove City finished with 20 turnovers.
Hallam also led the Wolverines with six ground balls. Smith picked up five ground balls. Anderson, Hasley, Robinette and senior goalie
Mia Gallagher (Mogadore, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban) all collected three ground balls.
Gallagher earned the win in goal. She did not face a shot on goal. Overall, Grove City held a 36-1 edge in total shots, including a 25-0 margin in shots on goal.
Grove City will face Clark (Mass.) at 12 p.m. Thursday in Clearwater.
