Saturday split for Wolverines

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's volleyball team split two matches Saturday at its second annual invitational in the Grove City College Arena. After a 29-31, 25-20, 25-22, 25-22 loss to Olivet in the opener, the Wolverines rebounded to sweep Mount Aloysius in the nightcap, 25-10, 25-14, 25-23.

Sophomore Keith Otto (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) and freshman Joseph Allison (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) both recorded seven kills against Mount Aloysius to pace Grove City's balanced offensive attack. Junior Andrew Kessler (Jeannette, Pa./Penn-Trafford), sophomore Reese Malcolm (New Philadelphia, Ohio/Homeschooled) and freshman Anderson Ross (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) all had five kills.

Junior setter Craig Fair (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) recorded 15 assists and freshman Thomas Krahe (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) tallied 11 assists. Krahe also served two aces. 

Malcolm recorded a team-leading five blocks. Kessler and freshman Micah Wilding (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton Academy) both had four blocks while Allison and Ross each authored three blocks. 

Freshman libero Evan DiMalanta (Medina, Ohio/Highland) had a match-high 12 digs. 

Junior Carson Good (Jeannette, Pa./Penn-Trafford) led Grove City with eight kills against Olivet. Senior Tieg Malcolm (New Philadelphia, Ohio/Homeschooled) and junior Max Gianneski (Butler, Pa./Butler) each contributed five kills. 

Fair tallied 24 assists. Tieg Malcolm served four aces. He also led the defense with six total blocks. Fair finished with a team-leading seven digs. 

Grove City (6-6) will visit Mount Aloysius at 7 p.m. Thursday in a non-conference match.
