GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's swimming and diving team concluded its Presidents' Athletic Conference dual meet schedule Thursday night by picking up a 107-58 victory over visiting Westminster at James E. Longnecker Pool.
Grove City bookended the meet by winning both relay events. Junior
Bryce Pope (Wilmington, Del./Delaware Valley Classical), senior
Caleb Einolf (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown), junior
Andrew Buxbaum (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) and senior
Sam Thayer (Canton, Ohio/Massillon Jackson) opened the meet with a winning time of 1 minute, 36.02 seconds in the 200 medley relay.
Mayhew, junior
Josh Remlinger (Granville, Ohio/Granville), freshman
Connor Morgan (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) and junior
Owen Hancock (Brunswick, Ohio/Westside Christian) closed the meet with a winning time of 1:28.97 in the 200 free relay.
Mayhew also picked up a pair of individual wins. He won the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.09, then recorded a victorious time of 49.84 seconds in the 100 freestyle.
Pope took the 200 free in 1:50.06 while Hancock prevailed in the 100 backstroke (53.01). Einolf won the 100 butterfly (50.21) while senior
Calvin Doolittle (Clarington, Pa./Brookville) captured the 200 butterfly (2:08.45).
Sophomore
Ryan Turner (Fombell, Pa./Riverside) won the 50 free in 22.51 seconds. Sophomore
Aidan McCarthy (Knoxville, Tenn./Christian Academy of Knoxville) won the 500 in a time of 4:54.05 while freshman
Josh Langworthy (Bowdoinham, Maine/Mount Ararat) captured the 200 backstroke (2:00.45).
When paired with the 148-118 win achieved Thursday night by Grove City's women's swimming and diving team over Westminster, head coach
Dave Fritz now has 400 career head coaching wins at the College. He is in his 24th season as head men's swimming and diving coach and in his 17th campaign as women's head coach. He also coached women's water polo at Grove City from 2002 to 2009 and men's water polo from 2002 to 2005.
Grove City will close its dual meet schedule Saturday at 1 p.m. with a non-conference clash at PennWest Clarion.
