Hancock, Einolf earn All-America in 100 fly

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Two Grove City College men's swimmers earned All-America honors Thursday night in the 100 butterfly at the 2026 NCAA Division III Championships, held in Indiana University Natatorium. 

Junior Owen Hancock (Brunswick, Ohio/Westside Christian) captured his first individual All-America award by placing sixth in the 100 butterfly while senior Caleb Einolf (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) won the consolation final of the 100 fly to place ninth overall.

Hancock posted a time of 47.79 seconds in the championship finale to earn sixth place. He entered the finals as the No. 8 seed after recording a time of 47.85 during Thursday morning's preliminary session. 

Einolf won the consolation final with a time of 47.63 seconds. He advanced from the preliminaries to the consolation finals by finishing 15th Thursday morning with a time of 48.16 seconds. Einolf recorded the fifth-fastest 100 butterfly time overall during Thursday night's finals.

Hancock entered the Championships as the No. 9 seed while Einolf owned the No. 12 seed.

Einolf, Hancock, junior Bryce Pope (Wilmington, Del./Delaware Valley Classical) and freshman George Witte (Columbia, S.C./Covenant Classical Christian) competed in the preliminaries of the 200 free relay Thursday morning. The foursome placed 19th overall with a time of 1:21.59. Grove City entered the Championships seeded 22nd in the 200 free relay.

Wednesday night, that foursome earned All-America distinction in the 400 medley relay by taking 15th place. 

Chicago junior Cooper Costello won the national title in the 100 butterfly with a time of 45.85 seconds. 

Friday, Grove City's four swimmers will compete in the 200 medley relay. The Wolverines are seeded 14th in that event. Hancock will compete in the 100 backstroke and Einolf will swim in the 100 breaststroke Friday. Hancock is seeded 23rd in the 100 backstroke while Einolf is the second overall seed in the 100 breaststroke.

Competition begins at 10 a.m. Friday in Indianapolis.
