GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's swimming and diving picked up four wins and set four James E. Longnecker Pool records Wednesday and Thursday during the first two days of competition at the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships.
Those performances have helped the Wolverines take first place in the team standings through two days of the four-day meet. Grove City has 364 teams while second-place Washington & Jefferson has accumulated 267 points. Saint Vincent is third with 264.
Grove City closed Thursday night's finals session by winning the 400 medley relay in a pool- and conference-record time of 3 minutes, 17.57 seconds. Junior
Owen Hancock (Brunswick, Ohio/Westside Christian), junior
Bryce Pope (Wilmington, Del./Delaware Valley Classical), senior
Caleb Einolf (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) and freshman
George Witte (Columbia, S.C./Covenant Classical Christian) combined for the record-breaking time, which also surpassed the NCAA Division III Championships provisional qualifying standard.
Hancock also won the 200 individual medley with a pool- and conference-record time of 1:51.53. Pope took second in that event with a time of 1:54.23.
Einolf added a runner-up finish in the 50 free, posting a time of 20.18 seconds in the finals. He set a pool record during the preliminaries, touching the wall in 20.05 seconds.
Senior
Logan Myers (Middleburg, Fla./Homeschooled) took second in the 500 free with a time of 4:49.05. Sophomore
Aidan McCarthy (Knoxville, Tenn./Christian Academy of Knoxville) placed third in the 500 (4:40.77) while Witte placed third in the 50 (21.00).
Junior
Andrew Buxbaum (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) completed Grove City's 1-2-3 sweep of the 200 IM wiht a third-place time of 1:56.96. Freshman
Connor Morgan (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) added a fifth-place finish in the 500, recording a 4:52.37 clocking.
Wednesday night, Grove City opened the Championships by winning the 200 medley relay and the 800 free relay. Hancock, Pope, Einolf and Witte won the 200 medley relay in a conference- and pool-record time of 1:28.04.

Ryan Turner (Fombell, Pa./Riverside), freshman
Patrick Cratty (Latrobe, Pa./Latrobe) and McCarthy won the 800 free relay with a time of 7:01.16.
Friday's preliminaries begin at 10 a.m. The finals will start at 5:30 p.m.
