GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Two Grove City College women's soccer players earned Presidents' Athletic Conference weekly awards Monday afternoon in recognition of their performance in the Wolverines' 1-0 victory October 20 at Washington & Jefferson.
Senior defender
Hannah Mitchell (Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg Christian) earned Defensive Player of the Week distinction while freshman defender
Taylor Leary (Warren, N.J./Timothy Christian) merited Newcomer of the Week.
Mitchell's work at center back helped Grove City earn its shutout win in Washington. The Wolverines allowed only three shots on goal and nine total shots.
Mitchell also scored the lone goal of the evening at 34:35 when she drilled a free kick into the net from approximately 30 yards away, marking the second time she has scored off a free kick this year.Â
Leary played 84 minutes at outside back in Grove City's 1-0 victory at W&J. She helped Grove City limit the Presidents to nine total shots, including three on goal, as the Wolverines secured their 10th shutout of the season.
Leary has started all 16 matches this fall for the Wolverines (12-1-3, 8-0-2).Â
