GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's basketball team dropped a 72-61 decision to visiting Washington & Jefferson in Presidents' Athletic Conference interdivisional play at the Grove City College Arena.
Grove City jumped out to a 28-12 lead in the first half and owned a 33-27 lead at halftime. However, W&J shot 52 percent (16 of 31) from the floor in the second half, fueling the Presidents' comeback.
Senior guard
Kyle Randle (Willowick, Ohio/Eastlake North) led Grove City with 14 points while senior forward
Mike Christenson (Oakton, Va./Trinity) and junior center
Austin Johncour (Sewickley, Pa./Avonworth) both posted 13 points.
Grove City shot 49 percent (25 of 51) from the field for the game while W&J (14-5, 7-3) went 24 of 54 (44 percent) on field goals.
Grove City outrebounded the Presidents, 32-27, as junior forward
Caleb Haller (Delaware, Ohio/Marion Hawks) grabbed a team-leading seven rebounds. Johncour and freshman forward
Josh Book (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock) both collected five rebounds.
Randle also handed out five assists while Christenson assisted four field goals. Randle also had four steals.
Grove City committed 22 turnovers, which led to 22 W&J points. The Wolverines turned W&J's 12 turnovers into 12 points.
Nathan Plotner led W&J with 20 points.
The Wolverines (7-12, 4-6) return to North Division action Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. with a trip to Geneva.
