ERIE, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's volleyball team recorded its second straight three-set sweep Friday night by picking up a 25-21, 25-22, 25-21 victory at Penn State Behrend in the opening night of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference-Presidents' Athletic Conference Crossover at the Junker Centre.
Freshman
Evan DiMalanta (Medina, Ohio/Highland) paced Grove City's balanced offensive attack by posting 12 kills. Junior
Carson Good (Jeannette, Pa./Penn-Trafford) recorded nine kills on 16 attacks while junior
Max Gianneski (Butler, Pa./Butler) pounded out eight kills. Senior
Tieg Malcolm (New Philadelphia, Ohio/Homeschooled) added seven kills on nine attacks.
As a team, Grove City finished the match with a .310 hitting percentage.
Junior setter
Craig Fair (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) recorded 26 assists while freshman setter
Thomas Krahe (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) tallied 12 assists.
Sophomore
Keith Otto (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) led the defense with 10 digs. DiMalanta, Fair and Good all had five digs.
Grove City (3-4) will play a pair of matches Saturday at Behrend. The Wolverines meet Penn State Altoona at 12 p.m. before meeting another AMCC opponent, Hilbert, in the 4 p.m. finale.
