ERIE, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's volleyball team extended its win streak to four matches Saturday by picking up two wins at the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference-Presidents' Athletic Conference Crossover, hosted by Penn State Behrend.
Grove City (5-4) opened Saturday with a 25-21, 25-19, 25-17 victory over Penn State Altoona. The Wolverines closed their 3-0 weekend with a 25-21, 25-17, 25-23 sweep of Hilbert in the nightcap.
Junior
Max Gianneski (Butler, Pa./Butler) paced Grove City with 10 kills in the opener. Sophomore
Reese Malcolm (New Philadelphia, Ohio/Homeschooled) recorded seven kills while junior
Carson Good (Jeannette, Pa./Penn-Trafford) and freshman
Evan DiMalanta (Medina, Ohio/Highland) both contributed six kills.
Senior
Tieg Malcolm (New Philadelphia, Ohio/Homeschooled) and junior
Craig Fair (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) both served three aces. Fair set 18 assists and freshman
Thomas Krahe (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) recorded nine assists against Altoona.
Sophomore
Keith Otto (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) led Grove City's defense with a dozen digs. Gianneski added nine digs.
DiMalanta delivered 11 kills against Hilbert while Gianneski and Good each had seven kills. Fair served four aces and also chalked up 20 assists. Krahe had a season-high 12 assists. Otto led the defense with 11 digs.
Grove City will host Randolph (Va.), Olivet (Michigan) and Mount Aloysius next Friday and Saturday in the Grove City College Arena. The weekend invitational begins with two matches Friday evening, starting at 5:30 p.m.
