Wolverines open 2026 home schedule

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's volleyball team opened its home schedule Saturday with a pair of 3-1 setbacks in a non-conference tri-match at the Grove City College Arena. Baldwin Wallace, ranked No. 15 in NCAA Division III, pulled out a 27-25, 29-31, 25-15, 25-14 victory over the Wolverines in the opener. 

Elizabethtown (4-1) then outlasted Grove City in the nightcap, 19-25, 25-19, 25-19, 26-24.

Junior Andrew Kessler (Jeannette, Pa./Penn-Trafford) paced Grove City (1-3) against Baldwin Wallace by chalking up 10 kills on 17 attacks. Freshman Evan DiMalanta (Medina, Ohio/Highland) posted nine kills and junior Carson Good (Jeannette, Pa./Penn-Trafford) contributed eight kills. Junior setter Craig Fair (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) tallied 34 assists. 

Defensively, senior Tieg Malcolm (New Philadelphia, Ohio/Homeschooled) collected five blocks while Kessler had four blocks. DiMalanta and Fair each had three blocks. DiMalanta also had a team-leading eight digs while junior libero Max Gianneski (Butler, Pa./Butler) had seven digs.

DiMalanta led Grove City with 12 kills against Elizabethtown while sophomore Keith Otto (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) recorded 10 kills. Good added nine kills and Kessler contributed seven kills. Fair had 28 assists. Malcolm served a pair of aces.

Malcolm paced the defensive effort with 10 total blocks while DiMalanta had five blocks. Good added three blocks. Gianneski recorded nine digs and DiMalanta had seven digs. 

Grove City will visit Mount Union at 7 p.m. Tuesday in non-conference play.
