OBERLIN, Ohio -- The Grove City College women's volleyball team improved to 5-0 overall by picking up two wins Friday at the Oberlin College Invitational. Grove City opened the day with a 20-25, 25-15, 25-12, 25-22 victory over Wooster. The Wolverines then swept host Oberlin in the finale at Philips Gymnasium, 25-18, 25-22 and 25-15.
Junior
Sarah Hart (Marriottsville, Md./Liberty) helped pace Grove City in the opener by recording a season-high 20 kills. Junior
Alayna Dorst (Middletown, Del./Middletown) posted 13 kills and junior
Kendra Klusch (Alliance, Ohio/Homeschooled) chipped in 10 kills on 16 attacks.
Grove City finished with a .290 hitting percentage in the match.
Senior setter
Brooklyn Wirebaugh (Medina, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) recorded 14 assists while sophomore libero
Lilly Wojtala (Copley, Ohio/Revere) contributed 10 assists. Freshman setter
Eliana Porta (Hartland, Mich./Hartland) added eight assists. Wojtala also served three aces while senior
Bella Costa (Newbury, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) served two aces.
Klusch led the defense with three blocks. Wojtala chalked up 16 digs while Dorst delivered a dozen digs. Porta added nine digs.
Hart also led Grove City in kills against Oberlin as she notched 10. Dorst added nine kills. Wirebaugh had 13 assists while Porta and Wojtala both had seven assists. Sophomore
Brooke Manfull (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth) recorded two serving aces.
Klusch had a half-dozen blocks and sophomore
Lilly Pool (Ashland, Ohio/Ashland) recorded four blocks. Wojtala had 11 digs while Dorst recorded nine digs.
The Wolverines will face Adrian at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oberlin.
