GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team scored four goals in a 16-minute span of the first half Friday evening on the way to a 5-0 win over visiting Oberlin (1-2) in non-conference action at Don Lyle Field.
Junior midfielder
Noah Gray (Glen Mills, Pa./The Christian Academy) scored twice and sophomore midfielder
Luke Ladas (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany Hills) scored the first two goals of his collegiate career in the first half.
Freshman midfielder
Owen Whitehead (Mesa, Ariz./Arete Prep) added an insurance goal in the second half, the first tally of his college career.
Gray scored on a penalty kick 5 minutes and 33 seconds into Friday's match. The lead grew to 2-0 at 11:49 when Ladas scored off an assist from junior forward
Ryan Merrick (Cranberry Township, Pa./Eden Christian).
Gray chalked up the Wolverines' third score with an unassisted goal at 18:35. Ladas followed with an unassisted goal at 21:48.
Whitehead added to the lead by scoring at 87:15. Senior forward
Jaden Claycamp (Aurora, Colo./Valor Christian) assisted Whitehead's goal.
The Wolverines (1-1-1) outshot Oberlin, 17-7, including a 14-3 edge in shots on goal. Oberlin had four corner kicks while Grove City netted one corner.
Freshman
Keller Krieger (Jacksonville, Fla./Providence) and junior
Anthony D'Ippolito (Mars, Pa./Eden Christian) combined for the shutout in goal. Krieger made three saves in 75 minutes. D'Ippolito played the final 15 minutes.
The Wolverines will visit Penn State Behrend in non-conference play Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Erie.
