WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's volleyball team improved to 9-3 overall Saturday by capturing a pair of matches in a tri-match held at Waynesburg University's Rudy Marisa Field House.
Grove City opened the day with a 25-17, 25-27, 25-16, 25-12 victory over host Waynesburg in a Presidents' Athletic Conference inter-divisional match. The Wolverines then dispatched La Roche in non-conference play, 25-12, 25-11, 18-25, 25-17.
Juniors
Alayna Dorst (Middletown, Del./Middletown) and
Sarah Hart (Marriottsville, Md./Liberty) each recorded 11 kills to help pace the offensive attack against Waynesburg. Junior
Kendra Klusch (Alliance, Ohio/Homeschooled) recorded eight kills while sophomore
Brooke Manfull (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth) chipped in six kills on 13 attacks.
Junior setter
Sarah Harris (Lebanon, Ohio/Mars Hill) recorded 14 assists and Manfull had 10 assists. Klusch served three aces. Dorst and sophomore
Lilly Wojtala (Copley, Ohio/Revere) both had two aces.
Sophomore
Lilly Pool (Ashland, Ohio/Ashland) led the defensive effort with three blocks. Wojtala tallied 14 digs while Dorst totaled 13 digs.
Dorst led Grove City in the nightcap with 15 kills against La Roche. Senior
Lila Stonehouse (Hatboro, Pa./Abington) pounded out nine kills on 17 attacks while Hart, Klusch and freshman
Taylor Ripple (New Bethlehem, Pa./Redbank Valley) each contributed eight kills. Pool posted seven kills.
Senior setter
Brooklyn Wirebaugh (Medina, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) chalked up 25 assists. Manfull and freshman
Eliana Porta (Hartland, Mich./Hartland) each recorded 11 assists.
Wojtala led the Wolverines with 15 digs. Dorst delivered a dozen digs while sophomore
Bailey Elliott (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood Academy) contributed a career-high 11 digs.
Grove City competes in the conference's North Division while Waynesburg is a South Division squad. This is the only meeting between the programs in the regular season.
The Wolverines return to North Division play Wednesday at 7 p.m. when they host Geneva in the Grove City College Arena.
