MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's volleyball team rallied from a 2-0 deficit Wednesday night to earn an 11-25, 23-25, 25-22, 25-23, 15-13 victory at Allegheny in Presidents' Athletic Conference North Division action at the Wise Center.
Junior
Alayna Dorst (Middletown, Del./Middletown) helped pace Grove City (7-3, 1-2) by pounding out 14 kills while junior
Sarah Hart (Marriottsville, Md./Liberty) hammered home 13 kills. Junior
Kendra Klusch (Alliance, Ohio/Homeschooled) contributed nine kills from her middle blocker post.
Sophomore setter
Brooke Manfull (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth) recorded 21 assists and freshman
Eliana Porta (Hartland, Mich./Hartland) tallied 13 assists. Dorst served three aces.
Defensively, Grove City junior
Lily Lagaras (Crofton, Md./Crofton) chalked up a career-high nine blocks while sophomore
Lilly Pool (Ashland, Ohio/Ashland) tied a career high with eight blocks. Klusch totaled six blocks while Dorst added three blocks.
Dorst had a team-best 20 digs. Porta picked up 15 digs and sophomore
Lilly Wojtala (Copley, Ohio/Revere) contributed 10 digs. The Wolverines also received nine digs from senior
Bella Costa (Newbury, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian).
This is Grove City's second five-set win of the season. The Wolverines also erased a 2-0 margin August 30 in a 3-2 win over Shenandoah in Gettysburg, Pa.
Grove City will face its first PAC South Division opponent Saturday when the Wolverines visit Waynesburg University at 11 a.m. The Wolverines will then play La Roche in a non-conference match at 1 p.m.
