MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's cross country team placed fifth Saturday morning at Allegheny's College's 18-team Ben Mourer Memorial Classic.
Grove City accumulated 144 team points to place second among Division III programs at the meet. Division II Slippery Rock won the event with 39 points and Division I entry Saint Francis took second with 53 points.
Grove City placed three runners in the top 35, led by a 14th-place finish from senior
Audrey Karwowski (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan). Karwowski posted a time of 25 minutes, 12 seconds.
Sophomore
Rebekah Burger (San Diego, Calif./Cambridge) placed 29th with a time of 26:13 while sophomore
Julianna Lindberg (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) took 32nd with a time of 26:21.
Sophomore
Abigail Nelson (Cheverly, Md.) earned 41st in a time of 26:46. Freshman
Erika Doolittle (Clarington, Pa./Brookville) finished 59th (27:19) and classmate
Lydia Wheaton (Bluemont, Va./St. Sebastian) followed in 67th place with a time of 27:48.
Freshman
Ali Parish (Memphis, Tenn./Crosstown) rounded out the scoring lineup with a time of 27:51, good for 73rd place.
The race featured 158 competitors. Unattached runner Chloe Bonson won the event in 22:49.
Grove City returns to action Friday, October 3 at Lehigh University's Paul Short Run.
