GROVE CITY, Pa. – Card games may not be as popular among sports teams as they once were, but if the Grove City College women's tennis team had a game of preference among the squad, perhaps Crazy Eights would be appropriate.
After all, the Wolverines' 2025-26 roster features eight returning veterans and eight newcomers for the upcoming season. Grove City will use that balanced mix in its quest to return to the top of the Presidents' Athletic Conference this year.
Second-year head coach
Shea Prins will rely upon two fourth-year performers to help lead the Wolverines this fall.
Senior
Courtney DeCarlo (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) compiled a 13-2 record in doubles play during her junior season and earned Second Team All-PAC as a doubles performer. DeCarlo also won 4 of 6 singles matches as a junior. She aims to secure a full-time spot in the singles lineup.
Fellow senior
Julia Ehrenberger (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) has been a part-time performer in both singles and doubles play during her first three season. She posted a combined 5-0 record in 2024-25 and is contending for a regular spot in the singles and doubles lineups.
Juniors
Peyton Joines (Glen Rock, Pa./Susquehannock) and
Cana Severson (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) are also entering their final season at the College as both players will be graduating early.
Joines earned Second Team All-PAC honors in both singles and doubles action last year while playing extensively at first singles and second doubles. A two-year starter, Joines also captured Honorable Mention All-PAC as a freshman.
She is expected to be at or near the top of the lineup again this autumn.
Severson also enters her third season with the program after seeing part-time duty in each of her first two campaigns. She will push for a lineup spot in 2025-26.
Junior
Jacqueline Marriott (Ashburn, Va./Homeschooled) also looks to break into the full-time starting lineup this fall. She has a 4-2 combined record over her first two seasons as a part-time starter.
Sophomores
Iris Kiehl (Warren, Pa./Warren),
Madalyn Twichell (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) and
Ellie Wilshire (Bridgeville, Pa./Chartiers Valley) are also back for their second season at the College.
Kiehl became a key cog in the singles lineup last year and earned All-PAC Honorable Mention after going 9-4. She looks to move up in the singles lineup this fall.
Twichell and Wilshire both saw spot duty as rookies and are expected to compete for spots in the singles and doubles lineups this year.
Newcomers
Blaire Beatty (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Bloomfield Christian),
Halle De Man (Rockford, Mich./Rockford),
Emma Flanigan (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Christian),
Jenna Marriott (Ashburn, Va./Fairfax H.A.A.),
Kyla Moore (Peninsula, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian),
Grace Stitt (Gibsonia, Pa./Hampton),
Mari Wilshire (Bridgeville, Pa./Chartiers Valley) and
Grace Yurko (Reiserstown, Md./St. Paul's) comprise this year's crop of newcomers.
Grove City opens its season Saturday, August 30 by hosting John Carroll. Conference play begins September 10 at 4 p.m. against visiting Geneva at Walters-Zbell Courts.
