GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Stout defense and a balanced offensive attack lifted the Grove City College women's lacrosse team to a 13-2 Presidents' Athletic Conference road victory Saturday over Thiel in the regular season finale for both teams at Alumni Stadium.
Grove City (10-6, 9-0) blanked Thiel for 51 minutes and limited the Tomcats to 13 total shots. The Wolverines also pressured Thiel into 30 turnovers.Â

Amber Wartman (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) also scored while fellow senior defender
Emily Arnold (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) tallied an assist.Â
Shilling scored off of assists from Mygatt and Arnold in the first eight minutes to give Grove City a 2-0 lead. Wartman and Stevenson both scored in a four-minute span later in the first quarter as the lead grew to 4-0. Robinette scored twice in the second period to give the Wolverines a 6-0 halftime lead.Â
Shilling assisted goals by Blythe, Mygatt and Roetering in the third quarter as the lead swelled to 11-0 after 45 minutes.Â
Roetering caused a team-high three turnovers while Arnold, Blythe and Wartman each had two caused turnovers. Arnold, Roetering and Wartman all had three ground balls.Â

Mia Gallagher (Mogadore, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban) played the fourth quarter and made one save.Â
Grove City owned a 35-13 edge in total shots. The Wolverines also had a 21-5 margin in shots on goal. Grove City finished the game with 14 turnovers.Â
Grove City will be the No. 1 seed in next week's six-team conference tournament. The Wolverines receive a bye to the semifinals. Grove City will host its semifinal game Thursday at 7 p.m. at Don Lyle Field. The Wolverines will host either No. 4 Westminster or No. 5 Thiel. Those teams will play a quarterfinal bout Tuesday at 6 p.m. in New Wilmington.
