Davis Schneider (Winfield, Ill./Wheaton Academy) both scored four goals Wednesday afternoon to help the Grove City College men's lacrosse team conclude its Presidents' Athletic Conference schedule with a 27-2 road win over Thiel at Alumni Stadium.
Grove City (11-7, 8-0 PAC) also received two goals each from graduate student midfielder
Gabe Jensen (West Chester, Pa./Tatnall, Del.), sophomore attack
Sawyer Strong (Westfield, Ind./Westfield), sophomore midfielder
Joshua McDermott (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./Santa Margarita), freshman attack
Cole Pedroso (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin), freshman midfielder
Ethan Binns (Saint Johns, Fla./The Bolles School) and freshman midfielder
Nolan Brown (Chester Springs, Pa./Owen J. Roberts).
Overall, 15 Grove City players broke into the scoring column. Senior midfielders
Kobi Bui (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) and
Trey Zabroski (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) both scored, as did senior defender
Benjamin Griffin (Asheboro, N.C./Greensboro Day).
Sophomore midifielders
Logan Fox (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Christian) and
Breck Peacock (Wayne, Ill./Wheaton Academy) joined junior midfielder
Ryan Walton (Advance, N.C./Davie County) and freshman attack
Tyler Blazek (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman) in scoring for Grove City, which led 10-0 after one quarter.
Zabroski recorded four assists while Bui and sophomore midfielder
Evan Curry (Huntington Beach, Calif./Mater Dei) both assisted two goals. Binns, Brown, Fox, Griffin, Schneider and junior attack
Rigdon Greene (Marietta, Ga./Pope) all chalked up an assist.
Greene and Zabroski both caused a pair of turnovers as the Wolverines pressured Thiel into 31 turnovers. Grove City finished with 12 turnovers.
Grove City also owned a 66-13 edge in total shots, along with a 52-9 margin in shots on goal.
Freshman
Sam Ryan (Lutherville Timonium, Md./Calvert Hall) earned the win in goal by making six saves in 59:35 of action. Senior
Matt Blythe (Mendon, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) made one save during a 25-second cameo in goal.
Freshman
Evan Gill (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) won 19 of 23 faceoffs for Grove City. He also had a team-leading 12 ground balls. Fox collected five ground balls and Schneider finished with four ground balls.
Grove City has the upcoming weekend off for rest and recovery. The Wolverines will be the top seed in next week's conference tournament. Grove City will host the No. 4 seed in a semifinal next Wednesday at Robert E. Thorn Field.
