GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's volleyball team wrapped up its home and Presidents' Athletic Conference schedules Wednesday night by sweeping visiting Chatham in the Grove City College Arena, 25-22, 25-20, 27-25.
Junior
Derrick Lambert (Denver, Pa./Garden Spot) led Grove City with a career-high 10 kills as the Wolverines finished with an 8-4 league record.
Freshman
Keith Otto (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) posted nine kills while senior
Quintin Norris (Savannah, N.Y./North Rose-Wolcott) and junior
Tieg Malcolm (New Philadelphia, Ohio/Homeschooled) both tallied eight kills. Malcolm also served two aces.
Sophomore setter
Craig Fair (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) recorded 35 assists, his 11th match with 30 or more assists this season.
Sophomore
Andrew Kessler (Jeannette, Pa./Penn-Trafford) posted a team-leading six blocks. Lambert, Malcolm, Norris and Otto all contributed two blocks. Sophomore
Phillip Schweitzer (Erie, Pa./McDowell) led Grove City with a season-high 10 digs.
Grove City concludes the regular season Saturday with a pair of non-conference matches at Penn State Behrend. Grove City will face Buffalo State at 2 p.m. and then meet Behrend at 4 p.m.
The Wolverines will be the No. 2 or No. 3 seed in next week's conference tournament. if Hiram (7-4) defeats Thiel in the regular season finale Friday night, Hiram will edge Grove City for the second seed via tiebreaker. If Thiel wins, Grove City will be the No. 2 seed and will host a tournament semifinal match next Thursday, April 10.
