DAVENPORT, Fla. -- The Grove City College baseball team used a 12-run sixth inning Friday afternoon to rally for a 14-6 victory over Webster in non-conference action at the RussMatt Invitational. The victory raises Grove City's record to 5-2 on the spring break trip and 6-3 overall.
Grove City also bounced back from a 4-1 setback Thursday against Wartburg.

Nick Sampson (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) later scored on a sacrifice fly by sophomore third baseman
Sam Bevin (Louisville, Ky./Wake County).
Meredith scored the tying run on an infield single by senior right fielder
Josh Minnich (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley). After an error scored DiStefano, junior first baseman
Colin Marinpetro (Imperial, Pa./West Allegheny) belted a two-run double that scored Minnich and freshman DH
Kallen Durbin (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley).
Another bases-loaded hit batsman to Meredith scored Marinpetro with the eighth run of the inning. DiStefano then broke open the game with a three-run double. He scored Grove City's 12th run of the inning on a Durbin single.
Bevin's solo homer in the first inning tied the game 1-1. Sampson drove in Vittone with a sacrifice fly to put Grove City up 2-1 in the second.
Vittone also tripled for the Wolverines, who finished with 13 hits. Meredith went 3 for 4 while Bevin finished 2 for 3. Durbin and Minnich each went 2 for 4.
Freshman pitcher
Corey Veverka (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg) earned the win by pitching 2 2/3 innings of relief. He allowed two runs and struck out one. Sophomore left-hander
David Gallagher (Coraopolis, Pa./Montour) closed out the win with 2 1/3 hitless innings of relief.
Sophomore starter Bryce Trischer (Mars, Pa./Shady Side Academy) started and pitched four innings. He allowed three earned runs and five hits.
Thursday, four Wartburg pitchers combined to hold Grove City to five hits. Nutter singled in Marinpetro in the sixth inning, cutting the Knights' lead to 3-1.
Senior pitcher
David Leslie (Butler, Pa./Butler) struck out nine men in six innings. He yielded three runs and five hits, taking the setback. Sophomore
Jack Houston (Vienna, Va./Vienna) allowed one run in two innings of relief. Veverka threw a scoreless ninth.
Grove City concludes its trip Saturday at 9 a.m. against Benedictine.
