GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Grove City College junior swimming standout
Caleb Einolf (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) has qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships in both the 100 breaststroke and the 100 butterfly after finishing in the top 16 nationally at the conclusion of the regular season. The Division III Championships will be held March 19-22 at the Greensboro (N.C.) Aquatic Center.
Einolf owns the sixth-fastest time in the country in the 100 breaststroke after posting a time of 53.77 seconds February 22 in the finals at the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships. His time of 47.67 seconds in the 100 fly ranks 10th in Division III. Einolf posted that time December 7 in the preliminary session of the midseason Wheaton Invitational.
Einolf will also compete in the 100 free at the national championships. He enters the meet ranked 19th in the country in that event as he posted a season-best time of 44.50 seconds at Wheaton.
The top 16 men in each individual event are invited to the national championships. Competitors can compete in up to three individual events at the meet.
This will be Einolf's first trip to the NCAA Championships. Einolf won the Presidents' Athletic Conference title in the 100 breaststroke (53.77). He also helped Grove City to conference titles in the 200 medley relay (1:29.36), 400 medley relay (3:17.69), 200 free relay (1:22.18) and 400 free relay (3:00.82).
Einolf will compete in the 100 butterfly Thursday, March 20. The 100 breaststroke will be held Friday, March 21. The 100 freestyle is scheduled for the final day of the Championships, Saturday, March 22.
