B-W nips Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's lacrosse team dropped an 11-10 decision Tuesday evening to visiting Baldwin Wallace (4-4) in non-conference action at Don Lyle Field. Grove City led 10-6 after three quarters but Baldwin Wallace rallied for the victory.

Sophomore attack Taylor Blythe (Mendon, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) fired in four goals to pace the Wolverine offense while sophomore midfielder Jess Robinette (Mohnton, Pa./Twin Valley) added three goals. The Wolverines also received goals from senior midfielder Abby Roetering (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg), senior defender Amber Wartman (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) and sophomore attack Gwen Shilling (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional).

Grove City took a 5-3 lead in the second quarter as Robinette scored twice in a 74-second span. Blythe assisted both goals. Shilling's unassisted goal pushed the lead to 6-3 while Blythe scored with four minutes left in the half to give Grove City a 7-3 lead. Sophomore midfielder Tori Stevenson (Butler, Pa./Butler) assisted Blythe's first goal of the quarter. 

Roetering and Shilling also had assists.

Baldwin Wallace accumulated a 25-22 edge in total shots, including an 8-2 advantage in the fourth quarter. Baldwin Wallace had 19 shots on goal while Grove City put 17 shots on goal. 

Senior goalie Elyse Kiggins (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) stopped eight shots for Grove City (2-5). 

Wartman led Grove City with seven ground balls. Shilling collected five ground balls and Kiggins had four ground balls. Roetering and senior defender Sarah Jackson (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield) both caused three turnovers. 

Grove City had 17 turnovers while Baldwin Wallace turned over possession 16 times. 

Grove City returns to Presidents' Athletic Conference action Saturday when the Wolverines host Washington & Jefferson at 1 p.m.
