AKRON, Ohio -- The Grove City College women's lacrosse team dropped a 16-9 decision Saturday afternoon to John Carroll (1-0) in non-conference action indoors at University of Akron.
Junior attack
Jackie Rowell (Reservoir, Md./Laurel) and freshman midfielder
Jess Robinette (Mohnton, Pa./Twin Valley) both scored three times for Grove City (1-1) while sophomore attack
Gwen Shilling (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) added a pair of goals.
Senior goalie
Elyse Kiggins (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley) opened the scoring for Grove City 50 seconds into Saturday's game.
Grove City trailed 13-4 after three quarters but Robinette fired in three goals in a five-minute span. Sophomore attack
Taylor Blythe (Mendon, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) assisted on all three goals. Shilling's goal with 6:58 left cut the lead to 13-8. Rowell assisted Shilling's score.
Kiggins led Grove City with six ground balls. She also stopped 12 shots.
Senior midfielder
Amber Wartman (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) caused three turnovers. John Carroll had 20 turnovers while Grove City committed 27 turnovers.
John Carroll outshot Grove City, 35-14. The Blue Streaks had 28 shots on goal while Grove City put 11 shots on goal.
Grove City will visit Misericordia at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in non-conference action.
