BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's basketball team dropped a 63-55 verdict Wednesday night to host Geneva in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Metheny Field House. Grove City (15-9, 12-7) shot 19 percent (7 of 36) from the field in the first half and trailed 30-19 at the intermission.
Sophomore center
Isaac Cherry (Sagamore Hills, Ohio/Nordonia) led Grove City men in double figures as he scored 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Junior forward
Mike Christenson (Oakton, Va./Trinity) tossed in a dozen points while senior guard
Chase Yarberough (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) finished with 10 points.Â
Grove City finished the game 22 of 68 (32 percent) from the field. Geneva (13-11, 11-8) went 23 of 44 (52 percent) on field goals. The Golden Tornadoes went 13 of 21 (62 percent) in the second half.Â
Geneva outrebounded Grove City, 40-32. Yarberough and senior guard
Jonah Bock (Erie, Pa./McDowell) led the Wolverines with five rebounds. Junior guard
Kyle Randle (Willowick, Ohio/Eastlake North) recorded four steals.
Grove City committed a season-low five turnovers. Geneva turned over the ball 19 times.Â
Trevor TIpton led Geneva with 21 points.Â
Grove City will visit Saint Vincent at 3 p.m. Saturday in the regular season finale. The Wolverines will clinch the No. 4 seed and a home conference tournament quarterfinal game with a win at Saint Vincent.Â
