GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's basketball team dropped to 10-5 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference as visiting Chatham (17-3, 14-1) pulled out a 72-60 win over the Wolverines in the Grove City College Arena.
Senior guard
Jonah Bock (Erie, Pa./McDowell) fired in five three-pointers as part of a 15-point outing for Grove City. Sophomore center
Isaac Cherry (Sagamore Hills, Ohio/Nordonia) added a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double.
Grove City trailed 33-32 at halftime but quickly took a 34-33 lead as senior forward
John Ward (Indian Land, S.C./Covenant Day, N.C.) drained a jumper. However, Chatham took the lead for good with a 16-0 run. The Cougars forced seven turnovers during the outburst.
Grove City shot 24 of 57 (42 percent) from the field while Chatham went 28 of 59 (48 percent). The Cougars hit 15 of 28 (54 percent) field goal attempts in the second half.
Grove City out-rebounded the Cougars, 40-26. Bock and senior guard
Chase Yarberough (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) both had three assists. Junior forward
Mike Christenson (Oakton, Va./Trinity) added three steals.
The Wolverines turned over the ball 21 times. Chatham had 10 turnovers. The game featured seven ties and eight lead changes.
Lovenson Xavier led Chatham with 20 points.
Grove City will visit conference foe Allegheny at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
