HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- The Grove City College men's basketball team closed the fall semester schedule Tuesday night by dropping a 91-80 decision at Houghton in non-conference play at The Nielsen Center.
The host Highlanders shot 50 percent from the field in each half, finishing 25 of 50 on field goals. Houghton also went 10 of 25 (40 percent) from behind the three-point line and 31 of 34 (91 percent) at the foul line.
Senior guard
Kyle Randle (Willowick, Ohio/Eastlake North) led the Wolverines (2-6) with 19 points while classmate
Mike Christenson (Oakton, Va./Trinity) finished with 13 points.
Grove City finished the game 32 of 71 (45 percent) on field goals. The Wolverines also had 24 assists on their 32 field goals. Junior forward
Caleb Haller (Delaware, Ohio/Marion Hawks) distributed a career-high seven assists while junior guard
Drew Collins (Washington, Pa./Trinity) had five assists. Christenson recorded three assists.
Grove City finished the game with 13 turnovers while Houghton had 11 turnovers.
Christenson snagged a team-high six rebounds to help the Wolverines earn a 37-30 edge on the glass.
Lou Bellamy led Houghton with 23 points. Houghton led 41-37 at halftime.
Grove City returns to action December 19 against Carleton in Daytona Beach, Fla.
