ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The Grove City College women's basketball team shot 27 percent (17 of 62) from the field Tuesday night at Mount Union as the host Purple Raiders (4-1) secured an 89-44 non-conference win at McPherson Athletic Complex.
Mount Union broke open the game with a 30-5 run in the second quarter that gave the Raiders a 51-17 halftime lead. Mount Union shot 12 of 18 (67 percent) from the field during the period while Grove City (2-2) went 2 for 16 in that 10-minute span.
Senior guard
Reese Hasley (Cheswick, Pa./Deer Lakes) led Grove City with 15 points. Junior forward
Brooke McCoy (Irwin, Pa./Hempfield) added nine points.Â
Senior center
Katie Hoff (Carnegie, Pa./Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Hasley, senior center
Emma Ulmer (Northumberland, Pa./Northumberland Christian) and sophomore forward
Alexis Hudson (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) all had five rebounds.Â
Mount Union held a 46-39 edge on the glass. Mount Union finished the game 35 of 75 (47 percent) from the field.
Ulmer and junior guard
Alexa McDole (Evans City, Pa./Mars) both had three assists. Hasley had three steals while Ulmer blocked two shots.Â
Grove City committed 22 turnovers while Mount Union had 10 turnovers. Tess Conroy led the Raiders with 13 points.
Grove City will host Pitt-Greensburg at 1 p.m. Saturday.
