Five straight wins for Wolverines

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's volleyball team moved closer to sewing up a berth in the season-ending Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship Tournament by pulling out a 21-25, 25-13, 25-14, 21-25, 15-7 victory Wednesday night over visiting Westminster (15-10, 7-6) in North Division action at the Grove City College Arena. 

It is the fifth straight overall win for Grove City (16-6, 8-5) and the fourth consecutive home win for the Wolverines. 

Junior Sarah Hart (Marriottsville, Md./Liberty) helped pace Grove City's offensive attack with 17 kills. Hart, the reigning Offensive Player of the Week in the league, has recorded 10 or more kills in each of the last 10 matches. 

Junior Alayna Dorst (Middletown, Del./Middletown) racked up 14 kills while senior Lila Stonehouse (Hatboro, Pa./Abington), junior Kendra Klusch (Alliance, Ohio/Homeschooled) and sophomore Lilly Pool (Ashland, Ohio/Ashland) all registered seven kills. 

Junior setter Sarah Harris (Lebanon, Ohio/Mars Hill) recorded 26 assists, one shy of her season high. Sophomore Brooke Manfull (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth) had 20 assists. Senior Bella Costa (Newbury, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) served a season-high three aces. All three aces in the fifth set, helping Grove City open up an 11-5 lead. 

Pool posted a team-leading seven total blocks while Klusch contributed six blocks. Dorst and Stonehouse both tallied three blocks. 

Sophomore libero Lilly Wojtala (Copley, Ohio/Revere) led Grove City with a career-best 24 digs. Dorst had 19 digs while Manfull collected 14 digs. Harris chipped in 10 digs. 

The top four teams in the North Division earn spots in the conference tournament. Hiram leads the six-team loop with a 12-1 mark, followed by 10-3 Thiel. Grove City and Westminster are respectively third and fourth while Allegheny is fifth at 6-8. Geneva (2-11) rounds out the standings. 

Grove City concludes the interdivisional portion of its 16-match conference schedule Saturday by visiting South Division member Franciscan at 1 p.m.
