GREENVILLE, Pa. -- One month ago, the Grove City College women's volleyball team dropped a four-set match to visiting Thiel in Presidents' Athletic Conference North Division action. Wednesday night, Grove City evened the season series with the Tomcats by sweeping host Thiel, 25-18, 25-18, 26-24 at Rissell-Beeghly Gymnasia.
Junior
Alayna Dorst (Middletown, Del./Middletown) led Grove City (13-6, 6-5 PAC) with a match-high 11 kills. Junior
Sarah Hart (Marriottsville, Md./Liberty) posted 10 kills and senior
Lila Stonehouse (Hatboro, Pa./Abington) chipped in nine kills.
Sophomore setter
Brooke Manfull (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth) recorded 15 assists and junior setter
Sarah Harris (Lebanon, Ohio/Mars Hill) added a dozen assists. Manfull also served a pair of aces.
Dorst and sophomore
Lilly Pool (Ashland, Ohio/Ashland) each recorded five blocks to help lead the defense. Senior
Bella Costa (Newbury, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) and sophomore
Lilly Wojtala (Copley, Ohio/Revere) both recorded 16 digs. Dorst and Manfull each tallied 10 digs.
Grove City trailed 15-8 in the third set before charging back for the win.
The visiting team has won five straight matches in the series. The road team is 9-1 in the last 10 Grove City-Thiel matches.
Grove City will host Presidents' Athletic Conference South Division leader Chatham (14-4, 9-2) at 11 a.m. Saturday as part of a tri-match in the Grove City College Arena. The Wolverines will also play Messiah at 3 p.m. in non-conference action.
