WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's volleyball team rallied from an early set loss Friday night to pick up a 3-1 win Friday night at Washington & Jefferson in Presidents' Athletic Conference inter-divisional action at Salvitti Family Gymnasium. Grove City (11-5, 4-4) prevailed by scores of 17-25, 25-20, 29-27 and 25-22.
Junior
Lily Lagaras (Crofton, Md./Crofton) led Grove City's defensive efforts by recording nine total blocks. Junior
Kendra Klusch (Alliance, Ohio/Homeschooled) tallied seven blocks while freshman
Ella D'Ippolito (Mars, Pa./Eden Christian) had a career-high six blocks. Senior
Lila Stonehouse (Hatboro, Pa./Abington) contributed three blocks.
Offensively, junior
Sarah Hart (Marriottsville, Md./Liberty) racked up 18 kills while junior
Alayna Dorst (Middletown, Del./Middletown) had 13 kills. Stonehouse added 10 kills.
Sophomore setter
Brooke Manfull (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth) helped pace the attack with 24 assists. Junior
Sarah Harris (Lebanon, Ohio/Mars Hill) added 19 assists. Sophomore libero
Lilly Wojtala (Copley, Ohio/Revere) had six assists. She also served a season-high five aces.
Dorst led Grove City with 19 digs. Wojtala totaled 16 digs, Manfull contributed a dozen digs and Harris chalked up 11 digs.
Friday's match marked the only regular season meeting between North Division member Grove City and South Division entry W&J (10-9, 5-3).
Grove City returns to North Division play Wednesday at 7 p.m. when Allegheny visits the Grove City College Arena.
