GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team dropped to 4-3 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference with a 65-60 home setback Monday night to Allegheny in conference action at the Grove City College Arena. Grove City (6-6 overall) led 46-44 after three quarters but Allegheny (7-5, 6-1) outscored the Wolverines, 21-14, over the final 10 minutes.
Junior center
Meredith Sherrerd (New Braunfels, Texas/New Braunfels) led Grove City with 14 points while senior forward
Clara Hannon (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) added 10. Senior guard
Jaden Davinsizer (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley) tossed in nine points on three three-pointers.Â
Grove City shot 23 of 66 (35 percent) from the field for the game while Allegheny finished 25 of 54 (46 percent). Allegheny hit 16 of 27 (59 percent) attempts in the second half, however. Grove City, which held a 30-22 halftime lead, went 12 for 32 (38 percent) in the second half.
Hannon, Sherrerd and junior guard
Reese Hasley (Cheswick, Pa./Deer Lakes) all collected five rebounds to help the Wolverines attain a 40-38 edge on the glass.Â
Senior guard
Mara Polczynski (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) and junior center
Emma Ulmer (Northumberland, Pa./Northumberland Christian) both had four assists. Hannon and freshman guard
Kailey Devlin (Turbotville, Pa./Meadowbrook Christian) each assisted three field goals. Hannon also had three steals.Â
Sarah Santicola led Allegheny with 28 points and 12 rebounds.
Grove City will host conference rival Geneva at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
