GENEVA, Ohio -- The Grove City College men's track and field team continued its indoor season Saturday by competing in the Midwest Open, hosted by SPIRE Institute.
Junior
Alex Mitchell (Hummelstown, Pa./Harrisburg Christian) recorded Grove City's top finish Saturday as he earned runner-up in the 400 with a time of 49.00 seconds. That ranked first among Division III sprinters in the event.
Senior
Ryan Lenhart (New Castle, Pa./Shenango) earned seventh in the shot put with a best heave of 47 feet, 11 3/4 inches. Lenhart took first among Division III shot putters Saturday.
Mitchell also took eighth in the 200 (22.54) while Lenhart placed ninth in the weight throw with a best throw of 48-1 1/4.
Freshman
Jeremiah Knowles (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) finished 14th in the 400 with a time of 51.27 seconds. Junior
Isaac Young (Jordan, Minn./Jordan) placed 15th in the 800 (1:59.71) while junior
Luke Roberts (Post Falls, Idaho/Post Falls) captured 15th place in the 5000 meters with a time of 15:41.03.
Two Grove City pole vaulters competed in the intermediate division of that event Saturday. Junior
Tucker Owens (Gainesville, N.Y./Letchworth) cleared 12-11 1/2 to take third. Freshman
William Britton (Westfield, Ind.) also cleared 12-11 1/2 and finished ninth in the intermediate division.
Grove City returns to action next Friday and Saturday at the Youngstown State Mid-Major Invitational.
